Mrs. Jessica Lee
Welcome to Room #14!
My name is Jessica Lee and I am one of the first grade teachers at Vejar Elementary this year. I have been teaching at Vejar Elementary since 2004, mostly teaching 1st grade, but also a few years in 2nd grade, and 1 year in 3rd grade. I love being a first grade teacher because I get to see and be a part of all the big and small miracles of learning and the social/emotional development of my students that often occur in children at this age.
I was born and raised in Fremont, CA (Bay Area). I attended UC San Diego to major in Biology because I thought I wanted to be a doctor or scientist. But I soon found out that I loved teaching kids even more! So I got my teaching credential and Master in Education at UCSD. I landed my first teaching job at Vejar and have stayed in SoCal ever since. I am somewhat bilingual in English and Mandarin because I can understand Mandarin, speak some Mandarin, but only able to write and read a few characters in Mandarin (so I rely on Google Translate often).
My husband and I have 4 children: Micah (12), Juliah (10), Noah (6), and Josiah (4). We all have different interests varying from reading, Brazilian jiu jitsu, photography, and singing, to Minecraft, board games, foosball, Legos, and playing with mud in the backyard! But somehow, we are able to find simple things to do, such as a bike ride to the park, or a quick trip to Yogurtland, to spend time all together. A few of my favorite things are: good books, green milk tea, movie: The Greatest Showman, Chinese dumplings, peace and quiet, Amazon.com, garage sales and good deals!
